Quicksand cigar box build

I thought I had an original idea, until I saw the thread where it was first floated here, but I went ahead with a custom 18V power tool battery build. I had a sander with a burnt motor so it became the donor.
I know we are supposed to build 'em stock first, but planning to use it with sources that don't have any volume control I put a leftover 100k pot in.
I checked over all the wiring and component positioning, used a magnifier to make sure there were no solder bridges, hooked up the cd player and speakers and flicked the switch...
Nothing.
Checked the + and - on the board: 20V...then the "doh" moment, you gotta' install the chip.
This thing sounds pretty d**n good fresh off the iron and has plenty of power.

Karl, thanks for the laugh, it sounds just like me.

I like the wood, it is really good looking.  Nice layout and execution.  How about a sunny side up picture, guts?

Doc B. might be PM'ing you to make a second one, he has wanted a Quicksand that would take power tool batteries for quite some time now!

Thanks for the interest. Being a POC project, the underbelly ain't pretty. I will swallow my pride (really not that big a bite) and post a few pics later.
I going to move over to the Quicksand page and wax on a little about the build.

So I've been using it in the office for a week, just driving the NHT SuperZeros (87dB sensitive) and using the AudioSource to drive the subs, it was just asking too much to drive them all with just 4W/ch.
It sounds really good!
