Failed Voltage Test [resolved]

OK, so we are back where we started. Can you put your black probe on B7 and red probe on B8 and let me know what AC voltage you measure there? Be sure to put the probes on the metal of the tube socket, not the soldered wires from the green twisted pair.

OK. I think I might have caused another problem. Earlier I tried resoldering the green wires.they melted together(I didn't know before I plugged it in). I tried the glow test again and smoke came from the transformer or wires and the transformer got hot. I untangled the wires, waited for it to cool and tried again and no smoke or heat came from the transformer and the 12AU7 still glowed. Did I damage the transformer?

If the 12AU7 is still glowing, you are likely still OK. When you destroy the power transformer, the fuse will just constantly blow no matter what you do.

Is it glowing sufficiently? Can I solder the red cable and do the voltage test?

Is "it" a new tube, or was something else resolved?

Yes, you can put the red wire back carefully. If the fuse continues to blow, we will have to lift some other connections to see where the issue was.

It a "new" 6AS7G I got from my local audio shop. On the bottlehead website it says its a drop in equivalent to the 6080. No audio store in my area carries a 6080 or any other equivalent.
