Buzz noise from Crack

Hello. I've sent out a fully assembled Crack with Speedball to a friend a few days ago and he's having issues with it. I checked out this Crack before I sent it out and all the voltages checked out fine and there were no problems. The only thing I didn't test out was the power cord that came with it and used the one I already had. He says there is a buzzing noise coming from the left channel of his headphones. He also said when he taps the chassis beside the big tube and the power switch it will get louder and quieter. He says it sounds more like an 'electronic buzz' rather than turning the volume all the way up and hearing a hiss.

I want to rule out everything before I have him ship it back to me. I shipped it out quite securely with plenty of cushion and blue taped the chassis so it didn't move. I tested the tubes and didn't hear buzzing noises.

What are possible issues he could be having?

Something probably got knocked around. Most likely a connection came loose in shipping, or possibly a couple of things are touching that shouldn't be. Someone will have to take a look underneath and see if they can figure out where the problem is located.

So I just received my amp back. I first tested voltages to see if everything was running good. Everything checked out fine.

I then tested the amp with headphones and heard no buzzing noise.

So if everything works, was it his headphones that was making the noise?

He was using HD600's

Was he listening to the amp with no source connected and the volume all the way up?

You might want to make up your own FAQ that you can email to your customers. Just something that gives general hookup and easy troubleshooting advice, like how to unplug cables at various points to determine where a noise or a bad channel might be located.
