Any plans to bring back the crack-a-two-a?

Fair point. My suggestion was really aimed at using the sexiness of the mainline front plate to take the c2a upmarket in order to keep it a core option (because I’m a big fan!). I do think there is merit to multiple outputs even if the electrical output is the same. I’d think you could keep the plate size the same and leave the inputs in the same spot just with 2 recessed vs 3 protruding.

I must say I’m quite smitten with the C2A and I haven’t yet installed the attenuator upgrade nor the big ol’ caps I have at the ready!

My 2 cents: Marketing this as mid grade between the crack and mainline really did it a disservice IMO. Be cool to see it mildly upgraded and positioned side by side with the mainline as a premium OTL option. Include the attenuators and a front plate similar to the mainline with balanced/unbalanced headphone outputs? I personally like the dual recessed inputs and toggle switches the mainline uses as well.
Actually I agree with you that it should in my opinion a v2 premium all out otl equiv to the mainline has a place. Both #1 in sound #2 in looks, and dont worry about complexity - premium gear is going to be complex we just want a great amp! My c2a is over ten years old and i still love it - wish it had more oomph sometimes, and had switchable characteristics. Its also really sensitive to input tubes in terms of output quality but its great beast. A v2 with all the popular mods, sorted valve sensitivity and maybe a broader headphone match and the right marketing it should be a runnaway success.

What are the popular mods?

What is valve sensitivity?

A broader headphone match would require a very different circuit, likely with global feedback or a tube very different than the 6080.

Did the 10 uF on the 100uF make a clearly audible differance? Or not sure? Others have noted a 1-10 uF bypass may help the higher frequencies others nothing noticable?
No bypass used. You might be looking at the .10uf caps I have in the board. These were just used in place of the stock daytons of the same value.

Headphone comment withdraw,
Popular mods will troll and compile once the current bequiet, cabinet and a turntable restore project is done. Shouldnt be to long. If a sensible list develops will report or if I'm full of “bs” wont!
Re tubes have read and watched your and the DR’s comments in threads and youtube in detail and get it. The clear observation is that tube rolling particularly the input changes the results. In particular the good old 3 - subtlety, detail and nuance as mentioned. Yes tube rolling is fun but its getting expensive and the legends have either disappeared or have unbelievably silly prices - from your comments you and everyone are aware of this. I’m thinking of the comments re Mainline where its generally accepted you can get a great result from stock tubes and rolling is a wasted effort. Its a bit like cartridges right without the silly market carry on’s tubes face …

Yes i had read of people using fractional bypass for higher frequency - really its a technical if i can find mind old electrotech text book with chapatersvon capacitors
