What Counts When Listening?????

Yep, welcome, and please let us know about the Mainline... Yeah, Trader Joe's is a fun store, I always loved going in there...

I don't have a Trader Joe's.  Matter of fact, there doesn't seem to be a real high line liquor store here in Knoxville.  The rare makes on the "Favorite Bourbon" thread on A-K don't show up anywhere I have been here.  Bulleit does. Some of the longer aged Weller brands are sorely absent.

Hey guys, thanks so much for the warm welcome!

Ever notice how your mood affects your musical taste?  Sometimes after a tough day, and I am fatigued an energetic piece of ear candy with a fast paced drum beat and screaming saxophone wakes me up.  Or, if worried and agitated, a soothing violin concerto calms the nerves.

Of course, one could throw some cocktails into the mix to make things more interesting.  For me one drink seems to do the trick as it cools off my obsession with evaluating the subtle timbres of a violin or evaluating the depth of the soundstage and allows me to just to enjoy the music.  If I go much beyond that...well listening to an AM clock radio would make me happy!

So Grainger, if you have would like to try online shopping for Bourbon, try this link:  http://www.klwines.com/content.asp?N=4294967191+4294966728&Ne=2&Nr=AND%28p_giftBoxYN%3AN%2COR%28OutofStock%3AN%2CInventory+Location%3ASpecial+Order%29%29&Ns=p_lotGeneratedFromPOYN%7C0%7C%7CQtySoldLast30%7C1

I have shopped with them for decades and their selection cannot be beat.  Yeah shipping charges are a bummer, but no sales tax to pay!

Lloyd,

Somewhere on the 'net I started a thread that asked what drink goes with what music?  I started with two fingers of Woodford Reserve, two cubes of ice and a small splash of water to listen to "Return To Forever" by Chick Corea (NOT the "Light As A Feather" album!  They are very often confused.).  It died an early death.

Moving on, You Are The Man!  I had no idea you could get booze on the internet.  Do I have to prove I'm over 21, 61?  Sounds great to me.  I just got back from a 6 hour round trip for a memorial for my (really hot!) sister in law.  She died back in March.  I'm bummed, and frazzled from the lack of courtesy and intelligence on the interstates.  So I'm listening to 40 Days by The Wailin' Jenneys and sipping some more of the Knob Hill.

You will find Dan and crew's forum the friendliest on the internet.  Yes, Seriously!

I have respect for you guys who can do the good booze in moderation. I cant. Its just too "encouraging". I guess that's my weakness, I need to admit it and be true. Beer is what I'm "limited" to now, with occasional "special occasion" high end liquor. That works for me. I dont want to have to quit all together. No saying what I might replace it with!

Yeah, The wife will be asking.. "I saw on the credit card a $600 charge for light bulbs from Home Depot????"....:)

Haha, yes, but with the light bulbs, her next question would be.. "why the sudden interest in botany and Head East, Eric?"...

So today I put on a CD of "Imaging" songs.  Either Allison Krauss or Nickel Creek.

My favorite two songs are "Let Me Touch You For A While" and "New Favorite".  "New Favorite" ends with a point/counterpoint of Jerry Douglas on Dobro and Jerry Douglas on lap steel.  It continues throughout the fade.  I was impressed with the sound.  I had 1 drink before listening.  Not more.  So I'm thinking it is the system not my brain.

I do have a switch that shorts the DC that bleeds through the Parafeed cap to ground on start-up.  That keeps the OPT from being magnetized.  I open it after 30 s.
