Weird phenomena on a new moreplay

Hi all! This is my first post! I built a Crack a good while ago and it's perfect. So for my retirement I decided to treat myself with a Moreplay.
First, the resistance check was within specs.
Second, for the voltage checks, I heard a light "tick" and a light plume of smoke came out the cap at 21-23. I instantly unplugged the machine.
Well, the neg lead of the 220uF/350V was in contact with 22 ground. I replaced the cap with one of same values and brand, although it's a little shorter in size and bigger in dia.
Resistance and voltage check again, all were within specs.
However, when I power on the pre-, with the volume at the off position, I have sound coming out the right speaker, for about 5 minutes while it's slowly fading out.
And then both channels are dead quiet, and it plays very well indeed.
What should I do?
Many thanks!

Can you post some build photos? The negative lead of the 220uF/350V cap contacting terminal 22 won't cause the cap to blow. Bad solder joints can cause some odd problems that may lead to capacitor failure, however, so there's definitely still something that needs to be fixed with this Moreplay.

There should be no sound coming out of the preamp when it's stone cold and you first switch it on. I would want to be looking for miswires/odd soldering issues in some build photos, as poor solder joints, especially on ground wires, can cause some really strange issues to pop up.

Hi Paul, while I was waiting for your reply I followed your advices (in trouble shooting) and redone the solder around the right channel tube outputs/inputs.
Small cap, big cap, resistors and all. Brought it back to the listening room to find that it is working ok. So I guess that there was a bad solder. I will continue the testing and keep you all posted. For now, it's making amazing music. How could it sound so good with so few parts.
Thanks!
