SmashQuiet question

I have a question re. the SmashQuiet upgrade. The stock Smash has a volume pot and a balance pot. The SmashQuiet replaces those with pots for a coarse and fine volume tuning. How does the SmashQuiet deal with adjusting the balance? I had to play with the balance pot to get it right, so it did not seem to be just an "optional gimmick".

Carbon volume pots are not known for having the most solid channel balance at low levels, so if you are listening in the first 1/4 turn or so of the pot, then the balance control can come in handy.

The SmashQuiet does not use a carbon pot, so channel balance is within the tolerance of the resistors themselves (which is very tight, especially logarithmically).

Thanks, Paul. I have just now placed an order for the SmashQuiet upgrade. I paid using PayPal. However, when I tried to download the manual, I got a server error. When I refreshed the page, it said that I had zero downloads left. ???
