Shorting plugs for hum balance

Hi guys, I know this has been discussed before. However a search of the forum has been less than fruitful. As I recall the term "shorting plug" is a bit of a misnomer. By that I mean that you don

The critical thing here is that we are talking about plugs for shorting the INPUT. Those can indeed (and should be) a dead short. But they are not for loading outputs.
