quickie potentiometer question

Hi,

So my Quickie kit is coming tomorrow..  I know i should be good and build it stock first (which is the plan), but I'm wondering about the pot.  Has anyone tried putting the Quickie pot in shunt mode?  What difference does it make?  Heck, what is it?  I found an article about potentiometers but didn't really understand it.  Thanks!

You can certainly give it a shot. It won't hurt anything, and will undoubtedly sound different, but it does come with it's own set of advantages and disadvantages. Performing such experiments is bound to be educational.

So 2 connections are needed, between the wiper and right lug (with a small piece of wire??) and then installing a 75k to 150k metal film resistor between the top lug and selector switch?  How do you pick a resistor value?  I'm guessing there are a lot of values between 75K and 150K?  Thanks,

Dave
