Newly finished crack

After a few small problems getting it running, it is finally finished!  Very happy with how it turned out.  I'm going to let it burn in for quite some time and then add the speedball.

Very pretty!

What did you use on the top plate?  That finish looks great in the pictures.

Thank you.  For the top and bell, i used this in brown

I had to apply about 6 coats (sanding lightly in between) to get the desired effect.

Thank you for the kind words. I am indeed enjoying it.  For the wood base, I used minwax stain in golden oak.  It came out much darker than I was anticipating, but I am not complaining.  After the stain dried, I used minwax wipe on poly in satin.  I used probably about 6 coats sanding lightly with 0000 steel wool in between all coats except for the last.  It was very easy to apply, and gave a very nice finish.  I would have liked to use tung oil, but it was more expensive, and im a poor college grad.
