The base is not yet totally finished, but this is the essence of the final product. Under the hood I'm coming along nicely, perhaps another week, maybe two.

I picked up Doc's Vinyl Lover's offer so I've also got an Eros which will be in a matching style, and the Paramounts will be one red and one black, built to be bookmatched (is that a word?). The painting and finishing is taking forever, and that has to be done before any of the build can start. I've been stuffing boards to satisfy my urges.

Fortunately all my current gear is BH so I'm getting in some great listening time as I build. This will also help me discern the difference as I put the new gear into service.

Can you get paint to stick to those white ceramic 300B bases?

I don't know, I've never tried. I would think if you sanded it and then primed it appropriately you would be able to.

So far the consensus is the tube sockets should have been 180 degrees rotated to allow the logo on the tube base to show. But then, tubes vary amongst brands and even within a brand family so it's unpredictable. Or that's been my experience to date, but I haven't bought tubes for a while I have to admit.

I doubt it was ever even considered. What's important is that the wiring layout provides the quietest signal. That said, I like the fact that the logo's are facing in. Then again I'm the kind of guy that has the tire shop install the white-walls on the inside.
