New basic Crack

I decided to give my son a Crack for Christmas. The kit arrived last week and I built it almost stock in a few evenings. Just substituted a Valab 23 step attenuator because the wires have to be cut a different length. I also used PTFE wire since the insulation is thinner and therefore it is easier to work with in tight spaces. It passed resistance and voltage checks and sounds great!

This was my second Crack build and I have to compliment Bottlehead on the new instructions. They are very clear.

Thanks!

Beautiful Job

I built one for my younger brother for Xmas, I substituted the 120 uf lytics for 68 uf Poly caps, I left the original pot as he plays Guitar and it is the same pots they use.
The sound is incredible, he loves it

I added the speedball and a couple of m-caps over the weekend. Sounds even better!

I love M caps, great cap for the money, I used the Valab in my sex, the sex is a perfect match with Audeze LCD and sounds great with the AKG 702 and Meze classics also. The impedance switch is a must ( IMHO)

The crack sounds wonderful and I had a lot of fun breaking it in for my little Brother, the documentation was simply perfect for an easy build, I am thinking of building another one to use as a line amplifier in between a cable run and pre-amp.

Your son will have many wonderful listening hours and it will only get better.
