Negative Voltage on Crack Final Voltage Check [resolved]

Hey,

I’m finishing up my first Crack build and it passed a few visual inspections and the resistance check. When I got to testing the voltage, I was getting readings as follows:

1. -1V
2. -1V
3. 0V
4. -1V
5. -1V

6. 0V
7. 0.005V
8. 0V
9. 0.005V
10. 0V

When flipping the leads, instead of -1V I get ~0.5V. Neither of the LEDs illuminate but both tubes glow. Fuse hasn’t popped either. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Can you post some build photos?

If you use your meter to read a 9V battery, what does it show?
Update: was busy for a few days but had time to work on it again. Battery read showed 9.3V. I flipped the amp over and did another visual inspection of the guts. I didn’t see anything abnormal, but did poke at the wires to see if any were loose. Everything seemed fine, I checked the fuse and it was still there. Thought I might as well double check the voltage and everything checked out this time! both LEDs lit up and everything. Not sure what changed, but it sounds amazing! I’ll listen to it as is for a week or two then onto the speedball. Hard to imagine it sounding better than this but I guess I’ll see!

You probably have a loose solder joint. I'd reheat/reflow everything in the amp aside from the power switch and the joints where the LEDs are just to be sure.
