LP Giveaway, Updated 2/12/13

If it's not already taken, I'd LOVE that Richard and Linda Thompson!

That's more my fare.  By "experimental" I meant non-commercial in any form. Not that I don't like popular stuff (I do), but I'm more drawn to the strange and "out." Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, any free jazz or post-free jazz, Krautrock, electronic music, late Tim Buckley, etc.

Grainger,
If the other Richard and Linda Thompson isn't taken, I'd love it.  PM me with your email and I'll paypal you.
Thanks!
Pete

I will have to check if I have one or both still available.  Sam is first in line and if I still have both Pete gets the other.

It will be this evening before I can get to this.

Glad they arrived intact.  That should be the first mailing.  The others should arrive Mon. or Tue.  It is media mail and takes longer the farther it goes.

Not just intact. The Greman remaster is nice but what is surprising is the original pressing that is unbelievably clean. Even the intro is quiet. I have this on reel to reel and having the vinyl is a treasure. Thanks again. YOU ROCK!

Wardsweb,

The list will have some treasures and some dogs.  I'll certainly point out those that are not up to snuff.  For instance, the two Blues Project LPs.  Neither are really quiet.  But if you like the LP and don't have one, it is worth it.  Both are recent purchases that were not as good as advertised.  If I still had my original it would have been in better shape than either of these!

Got mine yesterday in perfect condition!

Thanks for the tip in your first post about phase.  Reversed the phase on my speakers and can hear a real difference, especially on music with a lot of bass

Thanks

Deb

Deb,

I played drums in the 60s.  If the touch of a stick on a cymbal doesn't have the "th" sound it is wrong.  Proper phase will bring a voice closer to reality too.  Since I have a sub I swap the speaker plugs (dual banana) at the amps and throw the phase switch on the sub.  Everything is aligned.

I guess that's what I get for reading your posts at 7a.  I had not gone back to read your original post until today.  You certainly have an eclectic mix of music.  Almost as bad as mine!

I don't have many duplicates, but I'll look through my stuff and see if there's any I think you'll like and bring them with me in January.  You can keep or add to your stack to share.

Joel

Dear Grainger,
Congrats on the "corner!"  Are the Dire Straits and the Modern Jazz Quartet albums still available?  Is this the place to ask?

Thanks for the offering!

David,

This is just the place to ask, or you can always PM me.  I get an email for every PM.

Sorry, I have already promised the MJQ and not removed it but the Dire Straits is/are available.  I will check, I think I have more than the self titled first LP.  Maybe a Brothers... maybe a Love Over Gold.  I'll PM you with that and you get to decide.

If you still have the Chicago LP (CTA) when I come over in January, I'd like to have it.  If someone speaks up for it before then, please go ahead and share the wealth!

Joel
