Just how hot should an Eros run?

I've had my Eros for a while, and noticed last night that the transformer and top plate in the vicinity of the transformer were very hot (the laminations on the power transformer were too hot to touch). The sound quality remains first rate. What gives?

Its the first time I noticed it. For some reason, I placed my right hand on the unit when I went to power it down (it sits so that the RCAs are facing the back and the transformer and IEC inlet and switch face forward).

More specifically, the Eros power transformer runs at very conservative flux levels, to minimize the radiated magnetic hum field and reduce transformer physical vibration. This is accomplished by using more turns of finer wire, which makes it run hotter. There is a substantial temperature margin in the transformer internal parts - this is true of all our power transformers.
