Hello everyone.  I've just finished building my Crack after letting the kit sit in my closet for 4 years and everything seems good except I'm not getting any sound on my right ear.  I've posted my resistance and voltage checks which seem to look ok from what I can tell.  Then only possible thing I can think of is that I'm using a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter since I haven't had a chance to buy high-end headphones yet.  But I tried the adapater on my receiver and it was working fine...

The big tube looks like it's lighting up on both sides (not sure if that's relevant...).

Please help!  I'd like to avoid sending it in for service if possible.

Swap input cables and see if the problem follows. If that doesn't make any difference check the wiring of the headphone jack.

Hi Doc B.  Thanks for your response.  I tried swapping RCA and I still only get sound in the left ear.  I have attached a few pictures for reference if that helps any.

The solder joints on the volume pot look a little suspect. I'd suggest reflowing them, and any others that don't look perfect.

Hi Doc B.  Thanks for your time on the phone.  Very much appreciate the great customer service.  I have tried tracing the route we discussed on the phone and all connections seem to be good.  For reference here is what I checked:

Middle top of potentiometer to A7
A6 to 1
1 to B1
B3 to 7
6 to inner middle of headphone jack

At this point I'm running out of ideas, but I'm going to try to see if I can get a hold of some headphones with a 1/4" jack to rule out the adapter as the issue.

Let me know if you have any other ideas...otherwise I may end up sending it in next week.

I'm going with Doc on this one...

That red wire at the volume pot doesn't look good.  I've "soldered" insulation instead of wire before.  If you wiggle that wire does it seem solid or does it change the sound as you move it?

I agree that is probably one of the worst connections since I burned the plastic some, but my multimeter detects a solid connection when I connect the probes to the center of the RCA and the terminal of the pot, so I still think it is conncected.  I will try to take another look at that particular connection tonight.

It's quite common to comment about blobby joints due to over soldering but this time it's the other way round. The majority of joints use minimal solder. This combined with virtually all of the joints not being hooked and made mechanically before soldering does reduce the chance of getting a reliable connection. Just saying.......

I agree your solder joints look very marginal to me....all those wires should be crimped around the terminals they go in...you need a solid mechical connection before soldering..the vol pot joints need touching up for sure.
If you dont fix all these your asking for more issues in the future....
