Curious about instructions.

I just received my kit and am going through the instructions. With some of the steps, it calls for a component, say a resistor, to have one end placed close to a terminal, like a socket terminal. I recall the Mainline also had these instructions. What is the reason for that particular component placement? Thanks!

For "grid stopper" resistors, this placement minimizes the wire self-inductance between the grid and the resistor, which in turn reduces the possibility that the tube will oscillate at very high frequencies. Other resistors may have other reasons - ease of assembly, for example.
