6fm7 getter flash

The side of 6FM7 turns black when used, is it the getter flash ? Is it expected for a NOS tube to have this ? Would testing a tube cause this (hence very quickly) ?

Getter can be a very dark silver color up to a very light silver color, but what you don't want to see is white powder in there, or no getter.

I forgot how it was in the 6fm7 tubes that came with the sex4 kit. This (dark spot) happens when first time the tube is powered or does it take some time to develop ?

I mean the dark spot in the photo.

That's perfectly normal. In this picture the getter is on the top of the tube/valve. The one on the left is bad. The one on the right is normal.

Yeah, those look similar to every Compactron-style tube I've seen.
