For my birthday my most awesome wife surprised me with tickets to Oakland to see the Tribute to Norton Buffalo, who sadly passed this winter. Roy Rogers, Bonnie Raitt, Charlie Musselwhite, Elvin Bishop, George Thorogood, The Doobie Brothers and a bunch of other amazing artists are doing a benefit concert for Norton's family. This show sold out months ago but Eileen and the guys sneakily got tickets when they first became available. Late last night Eileen handed me a Priority Mail box, supposedly from some Chicago record company, that actually had plane tickets and tickets to the show. Pretty amazing, all my family and everyone in both companies knew about this and nobody spilled the beans. Quite a feat.

I gotta find some clean clothes to pack and catch a plane this afternoon, so I'll see all you guys back here Monday.

Doc,

Happy Birthday!  As we all know you have a very cool wife!

Sounds like you will be living in my past.  And why do you need clean clothes for that concert?  Old jeans would be apropos.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. This has been a killer birthday for sure. The show last night was amazing. How all those cats who are even older than me can play for hours and hours with so much energy is unbelievable. Highlight for me was Bonnie Raitt, Charlie Musselwhite and Roy Rogers playing together. The King and Queen of slide Blues, and Charlie was singing like I hadn't heard him sing since the way back times at the Rat in Berserkeley. Off to the studio today to "check on my investment" (yup, still shrinking) and have dinner with my crew - Paul, Romo, the girls, Jackie Naylor and Art Khu. Life is good. See you guys Monday.
