What Amp Are You Using With Moreplay?

Setup:
Music Streamer: Bluesound Node2i streaming Tidal

Pre-amp: Bottlehead Moreplay
Power Amp: Schiit Aegir
Speakers: Zu Audio Dirty Weekends
Apparel: Bottlehead Baseball cap

Sound is superb!

Hi David,

I have my moreplay hooked up to a Carver CM1090 amp (with the preamp bypassed), and I wanted to try an aegir power amp. I have a pair of psb imagine x1t speakers, which have a sensitivity of 90db and are 8 ohms. Do you think the aegir could run my speakers?

Cheers!

Mauro

Two amps, a Nobsound 6P1 (class-A SET all signal-path caps upgraded) & a pair of ACA's configured as mono blocks and driven using the balanced inputs. The amps drive the speakers through an A/B switch (Douk Audio VU3).

My system setup:
Ortofon 2m Bronze              Airplay
U-Turn Orbit Theory          WIIM Mini
        Eros 2                    Aries II DAC
                    Moreplay > second out > Crack + Speedball > HD 650
                      Main out
                            V
                Schiit Lokius eq
      SE out                        balanced out
        V                                    V
Nobsound 6P1                ACA Mono Blocks
                    A/B switch
Hsu Research ULS-15 MK2 subwoofer
DYI DML panel speakers

Sounds amazing and has been super fun to build!

I'm using the Moreplay with 6v6 cv 509 coke bottle tubes with
the Reduction phono preamp with integration upgrade.

Heavily modified DIYHiFiSupply 300B monoblocks
ANK Audiokits EL34 monoblocks
Bottlehead and Paul Birkeland-modified Paramount 2A3s
AudioNote Kit 4 AN/E speakers

AnalogEthos Legendarium -> Tekton Lores
I’ll be starting my Kaiju build as soon as the chassis comes back from powder coating

I'm feeding a Benchmark AHB2 amp. The Benchmark has XLR input only so I fabricated some cables to fit. Source is a Lumin D2 with an excellent volume control so I rarely adjust the Moreplay's volume knob. Turntable is on permanent vacation.

I'm considering a Moreplay to pair with my Dynakit ST-35.

I believe this will be compatible for impedance matching:

Moreplay Output impedance: less than 3.2Kohms at all levels. For 1V in/1V out, 2.1Kohms.

ST-35 INPUT IMPEDANCE:        500K OHMS

500/3.2 = 156.25

I understand a ration of 10-1 is an absolute minimum with 50 to 75-1 preferred.

Is this a good pairing?

Yes, that's fine.

I'll just note that a typical SET amp drives a speaker with an impedance ratio of around 3:1 and sounds fine - so 10:1 is more nearly overkill than an "absolute minimum," at least in some cases.

A pair of JE Labs Simple 45s optimized for 2A3s.
Amps are vertically stacked into bi-amped Altec 604-8Ks in 9 cu ft boxes.
The sound is stunning, I may never build again (except for the expected Moreplay upgrade).

I posted here May 2023. Then, I was running either a Nobsound 6P1 or ACA mono blocks, of those, I slightly preferred the ACA's but not strongly so and kept switching back and forth. Later in 2023 I got interested in class D and bought a Hypex Nilai 500, which I quickly developed a strong preference for and it became my daily driver. Last month I completed Stereomour II, and after a thorough comparison with the Nilai, I definitely prefer the Stereomour. I think I have found my endgame in the Moreplay & Stereomour II.

Howdy!
I am using a SS (Florida heat) McIntosh MC7100.
The combo sound is superb!
On my Moreplay 6v6gty and 6v6g (bottleshape)

Connected up my just completed Moreplay Friday afternoon and all worked first try - turns out I'm still OK at the soldering game.

Amplifier is an (old) Parasound HCA-1500A and speakers are (new-ish) JBL 4309 stand mount studio monitors.  Was a bit concerned with the "low" input impedance specification of the amp but no issues; finding my normal listening level is with the Voilume turned up only about 20%.  Did turn the amp gain down from full to ~75% after first plugging it in and balanced the LR gains at the amplifier using REW.

All in all couldn't be happier.

Magnavox 9300 with Gold Lion EL-84 and GE 6EU7s. Also replaced the stock caps with MusiCaps.

Just finished the Moreplay upgrade and using it my kitchen with Overnight Sensation speakers. Sounds great and fills the first floor of my house.
Thanks to all Bottlehead. Forgot to mention I'm using a S3X amp.
