Use stereomour ii as preamp?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, recently I bought a used stereomour ii for my headphone. May I use it as a preamp to? Is there necessary mod should be done before working as preamp? Thanks.

You can try it as a preamp.  You may find that the noise floor isn't low enough depending on the rest of your system.

I tried this today. Pair with my Genelec 8030, I must say the result is very positive. The sound stage is more bigger than before and I can feel a bit more airy, not as my previous 6sn7 based amp but still good.
For the hum, I can decrease the speaker volume and make hum noise cannot be heard.
