Upstream component change eliminated noise I thought was from my amp

Spoke too soon last night. Noise level is massively improved, but it must be due to upstream components as the noise is essentially identical balanced or unbalanced from the speaker taps.

Turns out the S.E.X. has been illuminating upstream deficiencies all along, getting no respect for it.

Curious.  I guess in theory balanced wiring is supposed to cancel out common mode noise but i'm surprised it is noticeable at such a short distance.

Also the HE-500's aren't very efficient so if your hearing background noise with them the noise floor on the amp will be quite high.  To the point i would suspect something is wrong, bad solder joint, dirty tube contacts, or maybe just a noisy tube etc.
 
Attempted. Equally good. A bit more investigation and I think this must have been something upstream from the very start.
