Tip & ring voltage after speedball install

wink

New member
Hey Guys and Gals
So after my hiccups from last week were resolved, I moved forward with the speedball install. After the install, all of my voltages checked out, except for the last one. I powered the amp down, connected my leads, powered the amp up, it rose to 17.5V then dropped to 0. Is this something that should be looked into more? Any ideas?
Thanks :)

My experience was similar. Although the manual says that anything over 9V is a problem, information on the forum indicates that higher voltages with the Speedball are normal and your V reading isn't a problem. (perhaps the Speedball manual needs to be updated to include this)

I just make sure I don't turn mine on with the headphones plugged in.

cheers Howard

Yes, your voltage is fine as long as it only goes up briefly & then drops again.

I think the TRS voltage check in the Speedball manual is copied straight from the Crack manual & doesn't reflect the voltages expected with Speedball installed. ;)

Nathan, yes I'm sure. I've tested it multiple times, from both tip and ring, and different points on those terminals. I've tried connecting to different ground points as well.

HJC, that's good to know. Yeah, I also made sure to leave the headphones unplugged. Just incase there was an increased voltage.

Chris,  yes, it's real quick and then drops. You think I should power up without any headphones plugged in, or keep them unplugged?

Thank you all for the replies.
Just gotta figure out this bypass flux-capacitor next.

Routinely I turn on the crack and first plug in my cans several minutes later

Wondering if you've done the headphone jack mod noted in the FAQ section

Nathan,
I usually do the same. Unplug my headphones before turning off, and plugging them in after turn on.
I don't think I did the headphone mod. I'll have to look into it.
Thanks
