Slightly OT - Handcrafted Rubber Band Gun

I thought I'd share this little project I just completed.
Had a bit of spare time in the shop and came up with this...

It's modeled after an Anschutz air piston..... but shoots rubber bands

With the tight rubber band I can shoot a quarter roughly 8 out of 10 times from 10ft away.
Try that with a finger!?

That is beautiful wood!  And great craftsmanship!

How do you get the software to post two pictures at the same time?  Do they have to be ULRs or can you upload two from your computer?
 
Oh man, that is gorgeous. That would be the ultimate gun for hunting those big fat "slow buzz" houseflies that come indoors when the weather starts to get cold. We need to find you more spare time in the shop so we can see what else you come up with! Do you shoot a .22 target pistol too?

The stock is laminated Baltic Birch Plywood with 4 coats of Minwax 2-1 stain.
Working the stock to completion took as much time as building the action.

It sure could take out large house flies! You can even shoot though a door knob hole at 12-14ft. Rubber bands are inconsistent but it

I have an Anschutz target rifle as well, an older 1407. Great gun for rat hunting.

Now you will need to start researching which rubber bands are the most accurate and which have the best fly stopping power...

Whew!

Once I saw that it had a laser sight, I had to watch the video!
That sent me on a wild web search for the price. Thank god I didn't find one.
I guess buying a real O scope is still on track.
 
You can pick up a trigger guard mounted laser for less than $20 on Ebay. I picked up a similar one with a palm grip pressure switch for my airsoft MP5 a few years back. Lots of fun.
 
Yes, I've seen the Kaskin guns a while back and it inspired me a bit.
A few years ago a bought my Father a semi auto (rapid fire) wooden rubber band gun. Fun, but not very accurate.
When I saw the Kaskin gun... I thought, hey, I could make that, no problem!

Here's another one a made a few months ago... and it has a laser sight :)
It's sighted in for 12-14ft. About the length of my living room.
Again, it's all about the rubber band and how you load it. The laser is cool but it really takes the marksmanship out of it...lol!

Fairly easy to make if you have a metal bandsaw, drill press and a few files.

You sure do some sweet stuff. I love working metal, just don't get much time for it. Luckily I have a buddy with the machine shop. The best tools are the ones you don't have to buy.
