...feeding some now-reassembled stock JBL 4320's. I had experimented my larger system into not having any tunes for a few days, and so I reassembled the JBL monitors and can now listen to LP's. I said they were stock, but the foam around the woofers is grey, not white, so they must have been re-coned at some point -- I can only hope they were nearly-original cones and that the drivers' parameters didn't change too much. The drivers are all 16-ohm alnico ones in pristine shape, but I've never been too crazy about the overall sound -- unless they're playing very softly, when they sound pretty nice. So. I just ordered some 9uF, 12uF and 12+1.5=13.5uF caps to re-do the "model 3110" crossovers. I figure those caps are about 40 years old and may be causing problems. I kind of hate to drill out the rivets on the crossover box, but I've got to give it a try. The S.E.X. amp is wired for 4 ohms. I'm not sure what the real life load of the speakers is, with pairs of 16-ohm drivers and 2nd-order crossovers, but I'm guessing it all yields about 1W and 95dB.

On the Grado: Do a "google" on "Long Horn" modifications. Also adding the KAB damping add on for the 1200MK2 arm will make the Grado "happy".  Grados like damped arms. Had a Grado Blue in my SME IIIs and adding damping and Long Horn made a very audible difference, smoother - better tracking.

....And and what piece of "classical" music are you spinning? I spotted the 1980s Angel classics label through the dust cover.

Wow, great eye!. Perlman/Rostropovich/Haitink/Concertgebouw doing the Brahms Double Concerto.

Thanks a lot for the KAB and long-horn tips. A whole world of info, there.
