Shorting Headphone Jack

Hi,

I own one of the earlier version of the S.E.X headphone amp. I'm looking for a shorting Headphone Jack for it.

Does anybody found a replacement one since the one that came on the later S.E.X. model is discontinued, does someone found a replacement one?

There is hundreds of different jacks available on line, but which one is adequate  ???

Thanx

But still pretty cheap.  I'll go with this one.

It's almost embarrasing ordering a dollar and a half item    :D

Yep, I am from da north.

I know It's a bit ridiculous, but I really want to add this mod to my amp...

I'll try to find a dealer that carry those on this side of the border.

Ah well...

Found this so far:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-pcs-Original-genuine-gold-plated-Swiss-Neutrik-6-35mm-headphone-jack-socket-/131387929023?hash=item1e9754b1bf:g:d00AAOSwLVZVkR0t

In China... Hell. Would like to support local bussiness though!

No hole for the wire. It's for a board. And is it genuine ?

Do you have the jack that looks a bit more on the metal side than like black plastic?

Hi Paul,

Well, actualy, it never worked, I assume that I had the one that doesn't short the speakers.

Is it possible that I got the wiring wrong ? It's definitivly stereo,  ;)

I followed the documentation supplied with the kit. I bought this kit in 2008 or so I believe.

Still working great with a pair of General Electric Tubes with around 4000 hours on them. (they test almost like new on my tube tester)

This amp sing along...

Thanx

Yeah, you have the 120 Ohm resistors on the headphone jack?

This is a slightly different design than the current one.  If you want the speakers to cut out when you plug the headphones in, it is possible to rewire the jack to do so without replacing it.

That's right, with the 120 Ohms resistor.

So this is a very good news.  ;D Yep, I'd like to rewire it.

Please, where can I get the instructions for this?  8)

The mod isn't all that difficult to talk through.  The level of terminals on the headphone jack closest to the plate is the sleeve.  You must make sure not to move those wires.

On the ring terminals, which are the middle level, the wire going to the binding posts goes towards the middle of the chassis, and the other wire from the output transformer goes on the outside of the chassis.

On the tip terminals, which are the top level, the wire going to the binding posts goes towards the middle of the chassis, and the other wire from the output transformer goes on the outside of the chassis.

The 120 Ohm resistors are removed :)
