Russian FT-1's as bypass caps

Hi Grainger,

Just got a care package today from Romania.  (This is Eastern Block old home week. Yesterday was a trifecta of Russian K40Y-9 PIO's from Bulgaria.)

Have you ever tried the Russian surplus FT-1 teflons as bypass caps in your gear?  I've got a pair of Jantzen Z-Superior 3.3 uf metalized poly caps coming from PE, and thought I'd try the 6800 pf or 0.47 uf FT-1 teflons in parallel in my Stereomour.

Hope to give some useful information in my first post!
I'm using a 0,22 ft-3 bypass cap in my VSPS (an impressive battery phono): they give a lot of details and quicker response, the main 2.2uf output caps are k75 pio.
I bought a lot of pio caps, and they never disappointed me (except for MBG* caps, better to use them in PSU not in the signal path).

Ciao!

Right now I have FT-1 caps in my Ack! dAck! and my Paramours used as Parafeed bypass caps.  I have two in my FP 2 as power supply bypass caps along with a pair of PIO KK caps (two bypass caps per channel).  I have a PDMPS (pseudo dual mono power supply) using some BIG motor run caps.  I did have them as signal path bypasses in the FP 2 and Seduction but upgraded both output caps and spared out the KK Teflons.

As always I suggest putting them in with jumpers first.  I went back and fourth 4 or 5 times to be sure I liked them.  They stayed.

Hi!

I see that you was curious about using FT-1 teflon as bypass for Jantzen Superior Z-Cap.

That is exactly what I also have in mind, as for coupling caps to filter DC in signal path for an amp. I intend to use FT-1 at 0,022uF parallel with Jantzen 1,5uF.

Have you tried this combination yet? If so, did you like it? Was the sound better with FT-1 as bypass?

I have read this, and he seems to like it, at least with Janzen PIO.

Best regards: Mikael Markstrom

Mikael,

I would give you the advice I gave Mike.  Try it with jumpers.  The caps are inexpensive and you should always have some jumpers, or two dozen jumpers.  They are very handy.

You are the only person who needs to like the sound of the bypass caps.  So see if they please you.
