RGC-6 PS Chokes

How about replacing the PS 270 ohm resistor with MQ RGC (really good chokes) 06s. The RGC-6 10H, 75mA, 180 ohms DCR.

I'll need to find a place for these, of course.

thanks

Ought to work, though the Paramount draws more like 80mA with the shunt reg and driver. Mike's stuff is usually rated conservatively, though I haven't checked on this one.

From Mike:

You'll bee fine.

Paul, can I just drop them in instead of the resistor? Wil the DCR of 180 ohm instead of 270 ohm cause any changes in voltage? I plan to install them after (or during) installing the soft start retrofit.

Thanks

If that doesn't drop enough voltage, or the regulator won't handle the extra voltage, put a 100 ohm resistor in front of the choke.  That is, between the first filter cap and the choke with the choke going to the second filter cap.  You end up with 10 more ohms than designed for.

Paul Joppa may suggest reversing the positions of the choke and resistor.  I'd go with what he suggests.  Otherwise that gives you the noise rejection of the choke and the proper voltage drop.
