Rg 249K resistor in 2a3 direct coupled version

The schematic of the 2a3 version shows Rg (grid resistor) a 249K resistor.  The construction manual leaves it out.  The instruction specifically state that you do not use this resistor.

I built the amp assuming that the instruction are correct.

Is the schematic in error?
