Remodeled my room

Like most others here, I recently read Jim Smith's book on improving a sound system and incorporated some of his suggestions in a room redo.  Added 18 acoustic panels and moved gear from a low rack 2' behing speakers to stands on the side.  Amp is near subwoofer (unavoidable in my room in this configuration) so amps are on 70 lb sand filled wooden blocks.  Foreplay and DAC on a roller bearing shelf.  Have computer screen and mouse beside listening chair  - extremely convenient.

Nice layout!

Looks like a garden hose coming out of the outlet.  Is that the world's largest remote control on top of the sub?

Grainger - that is my dedicated music PC, not the sub.  I have a flat monitor and mouse on a 15' cable so I can sit in my chair and control everything.

As for the sound, the acoustic panels really make things a lot clearer.  At first I was upset, thinking that now my Bottlehead system sounded like transistors, but after a while I recognize it is clearer, but with absolutely no graininess.  In some ways a bit less romantic sounding - I may play with number of panels to bring a bit of resonance back later, but for now I am working at repositioning the speakers for best playback.  Absolutely noticing more reproduction of recording venues' acoustics and other micro details.  This should be much better at revealing changes in the gear.
