Powerline Voltage Test

Hi all,
New here, and if the build continues to go as it starts, I will be writing to you all more.  I am doing the initial Powerline Voltage Test (just testing the leads connected to L & N) as on page 23.  My multimeter keeps showing 6-7v AC whenever I plug it in.  I tried searching the forums, but it looks like everyone else makes it past this level.  I am attaching a picture, but any ideas what might be up?

Thanks in advance!

Plug the test leads right into the live and neutral of your wall outlet and see what the meter reads.

Thanks for the reply Doc!  To answer *your* question 120v.  To answer *my( question it appears to be a bad set of alligator clips. :) Once I used the probes original leads, the test gave me 120v.  (Although since this is my first time using voltage greater than a battery, I am a bit skittish not using the clips and standing far away...)  Now I just need to find another set of clips.
