popping noise from speakers (resolved)

Hi all,
My Smash worked couple of months without any issues, but now I decide to add the Smashup upgrade. Now there is a strange popping noise from both channels. I re solder all joints, checked all voltages. The popping is not just once, like when you turn it off, but continuously. If you have any suggestions please share.

Check the 2.2uF caps to see if one might have been hit by the soldering iron and melted.

The caps are ok.
I recorded the sound from the speakers, but i am not allowed to post links :-\

Short the inputs and listen again, to make sure the noise is not just something that is being picked up from outside the preamp. The Smashup increases the gain of the Smash and thus it would become more sensitive to interference from cell phones, modems, etc.

I shorted the inputs and nothing changes, the popping continues

That's not from the preamp, that sounds like external interference. Sounds like it might be from an appliance or a modem/computer. You might try turning off various electrical items in your home as you listen to try to narrow down where it is coming from

Yes, I found it, it is coming from the wifi router . thank you for the help

Thank you for discovering this. I was noticing a similar sound and was thinking that I would need to take my recently completed Smash back to my workshop for a review of the voltages and my solder joints. I read this, removed the power cord from the wife's Sonos that is near by, and the popping noise in the speakers went away. There is a network switch in the Sonos Amp Connect that is being used. The Sonos was relocated.
