Painting prep for PC-3

I am learning a lot building the combo and having a hoot.
I just completed the Moreplay and am getting started on the S.E.X. 4. Pictures below. I had two questions:
1. I was going to only paint the bell of the PT-10 to match the Moreplay. But the PC-3s have gobs of I guess lacquer that I don’t love the look of, so I’m going to paint them to match. I lightly went over them with 0000 steel wool. Is this enough to spray them? (Note: I prepped the PT bell differently by rubbing with acetone and then using 220 grit)
2. Does the lock washer on the DPDT switch go on the underside or topside of chassis? Or does it matter?

It's a good idea to put the lock washer for the switch on the top side of the chassis so it keeps the nut from backing off.

You can sand on the chokes with the 220 grit sand paper to rough them up for painting. I would just resist the urge to chip off any of the varnish on them though, as you want them well sealed for a long lifetime.
