Oscilloscope recommendation.

Thought I'd ask this in Grainger's corner.

I need advice on an Oscilloscope. 

I just want a simple inexpensive one to clunk around with some vintage receivers I have and hope to repopulate and restore, and of course to play around with when I finally get around to building my Crack and perhaps another Bottlehead kit or two.

New or used? Digital or analog?  PC software with probes? Many choices depending on desired functions and budget.

A few years back you could get one for $100.  Paully and I used his $100 'scope on some new old stock Paramours this weekend.  It worked very well and told us what we needed to know.

Check ebay and as long as they say it is working you are in business.  You don't need 10MHz, but most will be a wider frequency range than 20-20k Hz.

I don't really need one but I'm retired now, my dog just passed, my wife thinks I'm insane...

Well it appears that posting in Grainger's Corner brings good luck

I found this beginner scope in mint condition without even a scuff. tektronix 2213.  New 1x & 10x probes, front cover, top pouch.   

power on button is a bit sticky. Gonna have to get some Deoxit.

Then by chance or design I happened upon a nice little vintage audio generator for $20 from a gentleman one town over from mine.  Also very clean.  I did not realize it was a tube unit and that brought an extra grin.

The TEK scope will outlast us both.  Great find!

The signal generator made me smile.  I didn't realize it was tubed but I have fond memories of my teen aged years of Lafayette Radio And Electronics.

That is a great scope. I have a 2235. Play with it and learn how to read it.

Back in my early teens in the 60's I think I memorized every Lafayette catalog I could find.    I don't know why but I was fascinated by them.  By 1970 I was 14 and I had the coolest Lafayette rig with giant Criterion speakers and all the music of the 60's to spin.  I think I had a DUAL and a GARRARD table.

It was the FM part of my Lafayette rig I loved the most.  Back then FM was in its best age and WNEW FM had all the seminal DJ's.  Alison Steele The Night Bird.  10 PM...
