I have just finished my S.E.X. Bottlehead Headphone Amp, the following is customized:
- RCA plugs and Speaker plugs are form CMC
- Vintage style volume knob
- C45 board
- No speaker connection wires (optional)
- 2 x 1.0uF 630V caps --> 2 x Obbligato 2uF 630V caps
- 2 x 0.1uF 630V caps--> Jupiter Beeswax 0,10uF 600V
- Top plate is rebuild from copper and chromed
- Top plate transformer is chromed

The only thing left to do is to figure out how to keep the big obbligato's in place ;-)

Connected to my Senns hd-800 the S.E.X. amp is already sounding great! Cannot wait to connect the amp to my Rega P3 and Music Fidelity pre-amp.

Thanks Bottlehead for this great kit, was a lot of fun building it and it sounds great!

Very, very nice work.  I like the understated look as well as the Obbligato caps looking like bug Thrush mufflers under it.  The extra ventilation should be good for the Bees wax.

Yeah, I should point out that we recommend great care be taken using the beeswax caps, as we have seen heat failures when they have been used in S.E.X. amps.

Thanks Doc B for the advice, I read it on this forum somewhere and I put the extra long spike under for extra ventilation.

Thanks! Still looking for a way to line up my mufflers neatly underneath the S.E.X.

You could try stacking another standoff on the C4S board instead of the mounting screw it has now. It would center the caps under their respective tube and not require you to drill more holes in that nice chassis.

Excellent suggestion, I think that would work well and give the caps an even spacing.

Great idea! I will give it a try as soon as I have some time.
