My wife just told me ...

... that I can't get anymore Bottleheads amps until we've a) paid off our debt, b) bought a house, and c) bought a new car.

What a spoil sport!

Thankfully the BH DAC isn't technically an "amplifier"  ;)

Yep Sam, thats how you get them! Trip em up on semantics... Yea, we all know thats bull shit... They just come back with  - Oh I just got this ring, you know, since you got your "amp".

I had to put up a good fight to get this. It was I don't drink, no money spent on sports, no pay per view, no money sunken into a car, all my music movies and games are downloaded vs her nails, make-up, fake eyelashes, ANOTHER pair of black shoes, every extra channel cable has to offer, etc.... It's a very winnable battle with the right strategy. As for no more amps? She probably wouldn't even notice if a different one was there the same way I don't notice another pair of black shoes.

somehow I knew this would be a "touchy" subject!.. Its like breathing... audiophiles have to pay for it some way or another. I dont get it...

I never understood the shoes thing.

Its like saying I'd  buy a pair of caps, or tubes, that I will only listen to once...John

Nah, the shoes get worn over and over. The one that kills me is going to something formal. Dress shopping for a $300 dress that is worn by her once, then by a hanger in the closet forever. If you ask me, we can play semantics all we want. They say they're getting their nails done, but come home $75 later with fingers done, toes done, some design on them that requires a microscope to see, and some eyebrows waxed..... are we all going to have to get some No Ma'am shirts?

I've made it a habit of asking on one random day per week if a particular article of clothing she's wearing is new.  It keeps her on her toes a bit.

I even suggest certain things to wear. But then, she looks great in just about everything, so I guess I am a winner in just about every catagory...'cept money.

My heart goes out to you guys in the struggle.  After giving a Pete Riggle Woody tonearm the go ahead last January, Molly has now told me that its OK if we save up for a pair of Feastrex D9 Monster Alnico's to go with our  SR45's running EML 45's.  (our NF5ex need the Paramounts to truly shine and we want something to pair perfectly with the 45s as well).  Granted, its all technically "for the business," and I ALWAYS make sure to keep our listening area very tidy ;)  ... but she was enamored with this pastime long before we got married.  I got really lucky!  So I'll keep trying my best to design and make high WAF components for all of our benefit!!!

But still... even in my case the ethic is the same...gotta improve the sound system with whatever means are necessary!

Cheers,

-Clark

It's all about picking your battles gentlemen. We can't all be so lucky to have a significant other that is on board with high end audio (lucky bastard), some of us have wives that don't care how good it is as long as it plays britney spears.

I'm not Clark, but we have no debt, we own our house, and I just paid off my wife's car.
That's why I now own the all DHT Stereomour.
BH-DAC, here I come! ;D

Oh shit, now I see Mike is having a sale!
You guys are killing me!
Why do I feel like a woman in a department store at a shoe sale?

So..... why did she marry a man if she didn't want a "fixer?"

Men want to fix things.  I painted the front door today.  The shutters had been taken down and repainted and it made the door look like crap.  So I fixed it!

Clark, I just had to view those monster drivers one more time. Now, you have to tell us more about them,  pleeeease.

I've been buying gear with the money I made from the "remember that amp I sold? money" forever. Must have been an Ongaku :)
