Having purchased a Crack and being so excited by the thought of putting together my first electronics kit in more years than I care to remember, I ordered a Quickie as well. Nothing particularly special about my take on this little guy, but I thought I'd share it anyway. The PJCCS was initially simply added to prolong the kitbuilding fun and the addition of the headphone output was a no-brainer.
It doesn't have quite enough to drive my inefficient old AKG 501s, but it's proven to be a lovely companion for my 250 Ohm Beyerdynamic DT880s. I'm thoroughly enjoying Trevor Pinnock's interpretations of the Bach harpsichord concertos (Archiv 289 471 754-2) as I type this.
While I wasn't overly enthused by the white plate at first, it's simple elegance has grown on me and it's an excellent match for the old white iPod I use as a source. The base shown is the unfinished base included with the Crack kit. I'd very much enjoy hearing from you on any suggestions you might have on what I might have done, or yet do, to improve this charming little kit.
