That is very cool.  I see you pre-cut all the wires you would need to keep the action going.

It's a griffin powermate. I use it as a volume knob to adjust my computer volume, but I leave it at 100% for the crack now. In the time lapse, I used it to scroll up and down the PDF of the crack manual.
 
Out of curiosity... How long did it take you to record and edit the video?
I assume much longer than put the crack together  :)

Editing took about 30 minutes. What makes you think it would take longer?
 
Looks great man! Where'd you find the little feet? I was thinking I need a set of something like that for my quickie base. I imagine they can help with dampening/microphonics as well as heat transfer...

i'd love to know how you got the finish on your crack……. i'm looking to purchase and i think the wood looks awesome.
