Mid Atlantic Bottlehead Guys,

I have not been accessing the Bottlehead Forum regularly and as a result I have missed a few Mid Atlantic Bottlehead Meet get togethers.

Could anyone tell me when the next Meet will be and where.  I don't like missing the Meets they are a lot of fun and very informative.

A suggestion for setting the level.

For testing  line stages,

set up a Control line stage, that is not to be included in the test, to the system and tone source. Adjust the volume to what you want for the competition, then do not touch the volume control for the rest of the competition.  Disconnect  the right channel.

For the amp to be tested. Connect it

Why not match the line stages by measuring the voltage across the speaker terminals with a tone playing?  This method parallels the sensitivity measurement for speakers; a specific voltage (2.82V I think) across an 8 ohm speaker.

You can set the listening volume with the Control line stage while listening to music, then use a test tone at a set voltage input and measure the voltage on the Control speakers through the Control amps.  That means each line stage will produce the same output at the speaker as the Control and as the others.

A sine wave is the only way to measure voltage reliably at the speaker leads.  Music changes too fast to measure.

Yet another good idea. I'll try it out at home.

You never know, we might get good at this yet.
