McIntosh Compaison

Seems like an odd comparison. One is a 50+ year old receiver and the other is a modern phono pre-amp. Kinda apples to oranges, no pun intended. Maybe you could rephrase your question a bit with a little detail if you want a rational reply.

Seems fair.

What I have. A Kaiju amp Moreplay preamp and a McIntosh MX 110z.

I use the McIntosh mostly as it combines the pre amp with the phono section.

I was wondering if anybody has been able to compare the McIntosh for records and what amp they are using, with a set up using the Eros phone amp. Would be nice if the comparison was with a 300b amp

I've worked on an MX-110Z or two over the years. The tuner section is quite nice and worth using, the phono stage is the standard vintage feedback equalized RIAA phono preamp (pretty much the entire tube audio industry has moved away from that to passive equalization), and the linestage section is somewhat disappointing, like they really needed room and power transformer capacity for one more tube to buffer the output. The Eros actually has substantially lower output impedance than the preamp output of the 110, but we still caution people not to run super long cables, nor to run it into a preamp with a low input impedance.
