My semi hot-rodded SEX 2.1.1 (designer caps, multiple inputs & my shameless rip-off of the SII MourQuiet) has been my daily driver, delivering the goods at work for years. Even with less than perfect input sources, the imaging is flawless: The vocals emanate from the center of my monitor, and the small, single-driver speakers disappear. There is even the occasional sound seeming to come from outside the physical confines of the speakers.
It was time to do a little maintenance, so I swapped it out for one of my Seductors, switched back to stereo for pinch hitting duty.
While the extra couple of watts is noticeable (mostly in the position of the volume knob since I can't crank it up while at least pretending to do my job), some of the magic is missing.
I don't pretend to have anything close to golden ears, but the sound field seems more defused, and while there is plenty of grunt from the extra power on tap, notes appear to be kind of piled on top of each other.
Needless to say that once the well-deserved TLC is complete, I will be happy to get my daily dose of SEX at work again.
