Left static

I just assembled a crack, speedball to be done soon. There is a static in the left channel at times. When i wiggle the phono plug in the phono jack it is more present. Advice?

When you say at times, what times?  Only when you move the headphone cable?

Have you by chance tried another pair of headphones to see if it is the cable in the headphones?  That is the first thing you need to eliminate before you start troubleshooting.

Try wetting the solder joints on the headphone jack a little bit, as well as the red and white wires that depart from the jack.

I have had interconnects where the outer shield got loose over the years.  I just gently pinched them in so the were again tight.

Try this after rewetting the solder joints as PB suggests.

Yes, by times i mean when I the cable moves or if the phono moves

Tried the cans on a different peice of equipment and it didnt do that. lol the only other cans I have are 32ohms

Speedball is installed?  Are are the LED's lit?

Speedball not installed. But the leds by the 12auf are working

You are narrowing it down.  Don't give up hope! 

The problem seems to be around the RCA jack and interconnect.

Can you try some experiments of wiggling other things (on the amp, not your things ) to see what else might be involved?

P.S. it would be nice to have at least a first name to call you, not the abbreviation for Allen-Bradley.

So I resoldered the left rca connections and all most white wire. I did not check the left channel resistors or capacitors.

Question: did you guys put solder on ALL of the holes on the phono jack? I only soldered those that had wires on it

IIRC, the phono input jack has two connections.  The center one is the signal.  The outer shell is the ground.  Without the ground it hums.  Without the signal it makes no sound.

I'm saying that there are only two holes on RCA jacks.  Both must be soldered in the case of the input jacks.

I'm confused.  I asked if you meant the headphone jack and you replied, yes the phono jack.  The inputs are RCA jacks, the output is a Phone jack.

What do you mean?  The input or output?

Output. Phone jack. I have always called it a phono jack. Thanks for your help, please respond if I should fill all the holes on the phone jack

Fixed! Soldered all the holes on the phone jack, not only the ones that had wires on them. All gone!

You needed only to solder the connectors that had components or wires in them.  Filling the others looks neat but doesn't have an effect.
