Kaiju soldering D1 and D9

Hello, I am putting together the Kaiju kit using the manual Kaiju_Manual_01-17-22-9jah5y.pdf.

I am on page 38. Instructions say,

“Strip the black and red wires ¼" (7mm). Using the end with the drain wire, attach and solder the red wire to D1. Attach and solder the black wire to D9. Route the cable to leave the socket towards the rear. Attach and solder the drain wire to the solder tab at the base of the standoff.”

I want to check that D1 and D9 do not need a 220Ω ¼W resistor, same as to the wiring for A1 and A9 (pg.37 of the manual).

Thank you,
Raymond

D1 and D9 do not need resistors tied to ground. The heater wires are connected to both the A and D sockets in series, so the 220Ω resistors at A1 and A2 provide a reference to ground for the heaters of both 5670s.

Got it! Have you thought about providing a cage top to go on top of the Kaiju, just in case a house pet, like a cat jumps on it? :)

No cage for me. My Kaiju sits on the lower shelf of a three-shelf rack. The only audio component I have that my cats are interested in is the lid to my Linn LP12: it sits in front of a window and they'd love to relax on it and take in the view. I have to continually discourage them from doing so.

My cats have never seemed much interested in tubes. They'll occasionally give one a sniff, but I guess the heat deters them from investigating further.

Thanks for your reply.
My 5670 Glow Test is fine, and I am going on to next steps.
Also, I apologize for a little confusion. The cage top thought should have been addressed to Bottlehead management.
To clarify, I was thinking if cage tops for the Kaiju were available to purchase on the BH web site, that may be a seller!

Should be easy to do. Sheet metal fabricators are ubiquitous. I easily found this example:
