Heat Syncs Too Long ?

Hi Guys/Gals

I've just completed the Moreplay upgrade and have noticed that the heat syncs are too long for me to be able to put a bottom cover on (which will have cooling holes).
The heat syncs are only about 2-3mm from touching the surface with the supplied feet on the base, and it is now impossible to put a bottom on as the heat syncs are too long.
Do you think it would be ok to take the heat syncs off to then allow me to shorten them ?
Many Thanks

Don’t shorten the heat sinks.

The Moreplay bottom covers are new so we may have some kinks to work out. @Eric Bauder is checking this morning on shorter standoffs to see if they’re feasible there and if so we’ll ship them to you.

As Jameson stated the bottom cover is new. I built a moreplay and added the bottom cover and legs. Because of the issue you saw I added an upgrade to my Moreplay to see if I could come up with a solution. Here is crude word doc I quickly put together on what I did to make the upgrade fit within the confines of the base. Let me know if this helps.

By the way, do not take the heat sinks off. The 2 transistors are putting out a lot of heat and therefore need a large cooling plate to dissipate that heat.

The stock heatsink is 2 inches tall - designed to handle a 6BQ5 at 0.78 amps. If you stick with 6V6 tubes, drawing 0.45 amps, you can substitute the 1.5 inch version of the same heatsink, AAVID 5298.

n.b. - We haven't tested higher currents (yet) so that higher current is is not a spec, it's just a theoretical prediction. But there should be plenty of margin with 6V6's!
