FPIII Termination QUestion

Hi, I don't anywhere in the instructions that requires we solder Terminal 28U.  Any one have any advice?  I feel like this should be soldered.  I actually can't quite fit all the connections into that hole very well, so I think some solder will really help.
Am I missing it in the instructions?

Thanks very much

Mike

I don't know what version is current.  In the old one I have the last instruction says to solder 17U, 37U and 28U.

Of course it needs to be soldered.  And if that part of the instruction is left off just go ahead and solder it as a last step.

I also remember that the instructions did not specify to solder terminal 28.  In fact, after I got all of the leads into the terminal, I went ahead and soldered it and then re-read the manual and didn't find where it said to solder, so I de-soldered it! What a pain and stupid too!  When rational thought came back, I re-soldered and all is well.

I guess a manual update dropped the Solder 28U instruction.  I have one dated 3-25-05.  As I said, it is in mine.

The manual's publishing date is part of the file name.

What is the date on your manual? The most recent update should say March 1, 2012 on the cover. There is an instruction to solder 28U at the bottom of page 25. There are a few other errors that were cleared up on this version; I can let you know the other corrections if necessary.

Mine must have been whatever manual was current in the summer of 2011 and it was also missing the solder instruction for 28.  I figured it was just left out.  I had to desolder and resolder anyway.  I built with a teflon insulated STP wire (stranded conductors).  It didnt sound good up top and I ended up replacing it with the stock wire.  So, I basically built my FPIII  1 1/2 times.  The wiring with the STP was probably what took up half of the build time  ;D

Fellas,
Thanks for the stories.  I just soldered it ... I feel better.  My manual doesn't have a date  on the front.  Just says "Copyright 2006".  I marked a few mistakes and typos as I went and was going to post them for others but now that the last FPIII has been sold, I thought it moot.

Just finished up my resistance checks too, which I think are pretty good.  I will post for review later today.  Gotta get back to work ...

Thanks again,
Mike
