Eros In The House! w/Claro Walnut Base

I love crotch walnut. Busy burl... Just one coat of Tung oil, but I'm liking it!
My buddy Aaron (ALL212) is real funny. I asked what should I finish it with? He said Tongue oil...you get it at tattoo parlors. ??? :
I ended up at the hardware store instead.

Lookin' nice! Black on that dark walnut really looks good. 8) Another 6 or so layers and that thing will just glow.

Thanks for the kind words! My diy idler drive Lenco has never sounded better! Heavy plinth, larger Mirko stainless main bearing, Advanced Analog MG-1 linear air bearing arm. Phoenix Engineering RoadRunner tachometer and 25 watt power supply (the tach controls the PS for proper speed, 33 and 45). I was a beta tester for Phoenix Engineering's 25 watt power supply. The Lenco motor pulls around 19 watts and he previously only offered 6 and 15 watt power supplies. Even though the Lenco motor is not an asynchronous motor, it keeps accurate constant speed! Melody has never sounded so good!
The cartridge is an AT33PTG/II (.3mV). I use a diy two speed (26dB and 32dB, set on low) CineMag SUT to boost the gain to the Eros.
I was going to do a Maple base for the Eros to match the Maple wrapped Lenco, but when I saw that Walnut... The Walnut accents on the corners were for a Lenco forum member who outspokenly hated the brown grain in the Maple arm boards.
Originally the table was all black but I got tired of it. It is an automotive clear coat finish, Cadillac black.
Aaron, the Eros is now sporting two Telefunken EF86, a Holland made large getter Amperex 7308 and RCA 12BH7. Would have loved to get some Tele EF806S, but they are ~ $275 a pop now. Here is an informative 2002 post from the Neumann microphone forum regarding the Tele EF86/EF806S. SQ is said to be similar/same, with the 806S lower noise and made to last 10K hours minimum for broadcast, military and medical machines like EEG/EKG. I got my tubes from near by Brent Jesse.

For those whom wonder about air pump noise, it is in basement with air line run in wall. A push lock bulkhead fitting mounted in phone/LAN wall plate connects to turntable which makes it neater than a hole in floor/wall with hose through it. A remote control key fob turns compressor on and off so I don't have to run downstairs. The MG-1 arm may be crude compared to a Rockport, but it performs well at a much lower cost.

After several coats of hand applied Tung oil, rubbed with 4 ought steel wool between coats....

Thanks for the kind words! Doc B got stuck on left side of top plate while the Eros name is bold in gold on the right side. They had smaller font but the size of letters should indicate the bold sound!
Last detail was adding a Cardas ground lug. I have no room on the rack so working on wide top shelf solution....cell phone pic.
