Eros and Smash complete

Wanted to post a couple of pics of my completed Eros and Smash.

Eros was built stock last year and was in and out of the system as it did not always agree with my original modded FPII and the current cart - Denon DL110.  After a clean bill of health from Doc, I decided to put it back in with a new Smash (with all the BH upgrades) and finally got around to finishing the base.  Everything works great now!

Finished the top plates and bell ends with grey hammertone. Bases first had all edges chamfered (by hand) and then finished with Minwax honey maple and spray on poly.

Smash - great upgrade from my ca. 2001 FPII.  VERY quiet and balanced sound with tons of bass.  Love the SmashQuiet attenuator and the extra room made assembly a snap.  Building this reminded me how complex the Eros is!

Eros - despite some of the issues I have had, this phono pre is awesome.  Looking back it is a tough build but sounded great out of the gate.

Doc, I applaud the simple elegance of your designs, the great sound and the wonderful manuals.  I can't imagine what goes into getting the step-by-step instructions so clear!

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks all for the kind words!

Should have showed the speaks, but tough to pull back far enough.  I am currently using Reference 3A MM De Capo (older version) monitors I picked up several years ago.  The chamfering on the amps was intended to pick up a similar detail on the speakers.  The stands are custom.

These are the third set of hi-eff. monitors I have used.  Started with Loth-x BS1 monitors, moved to Adire HE 10.1s.  I liked the Adires a lot, but as they are pretty big and my ability to build a decent cabinet is limited, I went with a more finished look.  Still have the other two in boxes for some reason!

The amp is an Assemblage 300B, the table is a Rega P25, the DAC is an Assemblage with D2D module and the digital is a NAD now on its last legs.  The rack I built with Home Depot plumbing pipe, a live edge top and some cherry shelving.

Great looking set up. The live edge top is very nice and complements the speakers. Nice work all around!

Fantastic work, really your whole system is beautiful, and I'm guessing very synergistic. Nice work, you should be proud. ;)
