I am a little shocked at how little of the stylus touches the groove.  I just hadn't realized that before.

That is fascinating to see, but has me thinking about how record encoding works, i get the movement of the needle translates into an electrical sine wave via a coil and magnet, but how do you extract two separate channels out of that.  i.e. a stereo signal.    ....i know what i'm researching for the next few hours
