Last night's supper.  With melted butter and English muffin garlic toast.

Gonna be tonight's supper too, I only ate half.  Just can't eat a whole crab anymore in my old age.  That's OK, the rest is going to make a crab, mushroom & cheese omlette tonight - :)

When I was younger I liked crab a lot.  But today it is a lot of work.  We only get the small East coast type here.

That really looks good!  I'm a seafood lover.

Hi all.
Here in Vietnam there's lots of crabs and cheap too.
I like the crab meat, but don't eat too much,
because I find it's too much work to get small pieces of crab meat.
Back in Canada, I eat some lobster, now, that's lots of meat for very little work involve.

The next storm is apron us, needed some comfort  food. Made a chicken pot pie with a pastary crust

I feel a little better...John

Great minds, or maybe better,  great stomachs think alike!!

Cioppino...the TRUE San Francisco treat!!!

Ignore the lobster tail...not authentic to cioppino, but my daughter is allergic to crab!!!  :o  She got her own custom bowl!!!

Cheers,
Geary

I always thought It's-Its were the true San Francisco treat. Back when you had to go to Playland to get one. Yum.

Damn! Haven't had one of those in a long time.  I was being snarky about the old "Rice-A-Roni" commercials, a definite NOT!!

Cheers,
Gery

A couple of decades ago I used to run my own commercial fishing boat. Lobster, Crab & Bass, Eels the main species targeted. But the red tape killed it here for small boats at the time.

Warm Lobster sandwiches and melted butter are still a favourite and occasional treat, yum yum.

I spent some time based out of Ft Lauderdale at one point, a favourite was the Downtowner Saloon they normally had all you can eat Snow Crab but sometimes King Crab also twice a week their bbq ribs are awesome. Another good spot was the Southport Raw bar.

Ah man its making me hungry just thinking about all those great places to eat and the nice warm weather while its cold wet and windy here.

Oouuu...King Crab!  Yeah baby!  I like that too - :)

It's a lot cheaper to import nice fish from the East Coast than to buy airplane rides there - :)

On the longest day of the year 2013: caught a very feisty rock crab while on a swim. It took 6 dives to 15-20 feet (with no weights and a 5mm!) before I finally started to bring him back to the surface.  I didnt have a catch bag, so I had to keep a really close eye on him and drop him and pick him back up several times on the thankfully short 200m swim back -but this bastard was double jointed and could reach me wherever I held him!  Rock crabs are scary powerful.  I far preferred this bare handed catch method with Dungeness.  They are larger, tastier, and less flexible to unexpectedly get you in their grips!

Today was nice.  Finished up my projects yesterday, it was 65 degrees outside, blue sky and my Bonneville hadn't hit the road in 2 months.

Dim-sum run to Modesto!  70 miles of smiles and this;

Clams in black bean sauce, shrimp dumplings, chive & shrimp dumplings, rice and Tsingtao.  Hella good.  $36 out the door.

If I lived in Modesto I would be broke & fat - :)

The temp hit the big five-0 today and its not actually snowing.

I got all giddy and shoveled out the grill. T- bone, baked potato with sour cream and chives and sauteed spinach. all with a decent Cali Cab.

The high temp means that the pellet stove is off. So I can pour some more wine and play some tunes. Plus I have tickets to the Philly Orchestra tomorrow.

Best weekend all winter...John

hi john,  so the fans in your pellet stove have an effect on your listening, right?  me too.  rats got in the furnace ducts, died and stinked.  so,  blocked off the vents and went to the pellet stove for the winter.  fans, fans, fans!  used to have a sex 2.1 in the front room,  headphone jack.  now using an old set of bottlehead mono blocks (2a3, sound a lot better).  now gotta listen to the fans.  ideas.  suggestions?  "DUN gen ESS= wonderful

No, sorry, no fans, no heat. Mine is not too bad with the distribution fan on low but that doesn't cut it when it gets real cold. All I can think of to to bribe that groundhog for 6 less weeks of winter...JOhn
