Beautiful and exactly what I had in mind for my second Crack, which is awaiting shipment.  I have done some casual exploration of chrome plating services in my area (Sacramento, California) and have noted far fewer exist than I recall in the past.  Just out of curiosity, if I may ask, where do you live and how much did it cost to have the top plate and transformer bell chromed?

The top plate is made from 1.5 mm SS400 steel plate  which was water cut and subsequently chromium plated here in Bangkok,
at a total cost below USD 100,- per piece ( incl plating of the transformer bell). I wanted to try different types of finish for the plate.
The enclosed picture shows from left to right 1) Chrome 2) Original Kit Aluminium, 3) Steel with a Rust Oleum Hammered gray finish.

Very Nice looking crack!!!! I wanted to do something like this. And make the wood a dark grey wood color. What color were you going to do the wood?

I have not decided yet how the wood will be finished, but a white wood lye finish or piano black springs to mind as both would go well with the chrome plated top. Another alternative is
something like in the enclosed picture.

Wow looks great!

Did you have a layout for the top plate? or just brought it to a company and asked for 2 replicas?

I'm considering making one with a front jack and would like to have a plate made without the jack and volume holes... Do you have a layout file?

Thank you,

1) Using a caliper I carefully measured the aluminium top plate shipped with the kit, and drew the design by hand.
2) Based on this my son Christian created a ".dxf" file ( please wiki) using SolidWorks, which subsequently was used
for water cutting the plate.

As the design of the Crack is owned by the Bottlehead Company, I will not share
the files I/we created in the public domain.

If you however have a design in mind, with detailed dimensions, and you need someone to create a dxf file for you,
I will gladly put you in contact with my son, who might be able to help you.
